Felix Jones has turned into the big play threat that the Dallas Cowboys have been long looking for. The Felix Jones Rookie Card might be that special card that you have been looking for.

Felix Jones is used to being part of a multi-faceted running attack. Since playing football at the University of Arkansas, Jones was in an understudy role behind Heisman Trophy runner-up Darren McFadden. But since playing second-tier to McFadden, it is Felix Jones who is out to make a name for himself in the NFL.

It may not be easy with the kind of playing time the Dallas Cowboys running backs are having. In addition to sharing carries with Marion Barber and Tashard Choice, Jones has to fight with the Cowboys passing attack which takes away from his playing time. Fortunately for Jones, the Dallas coaching staff has done a good job in balancing both the running game and the passing game to keep defenses off balance.

But Jones isn’t just the kind of running back that is meant to keep defenses off balance. Felix Jones is the kind of big play threat that can score from any position on the field. Jones has been able to spurt off longer runs with much fewer carries than the first-string running back Barber, and they have come at decisive moments as well.

In Week 17 with the NFC East title on the line, Jones broke through the Eagles defensive line for a 49 yard touchdown run. The following week, it was the Dallas vs. Philadelphia rematch in the wild-card round of the playoffs, once again at Texas Stadium. Once again, it was Felix Jones knifing through the Philadelphia defense to the tune of 148 yards including at 73 yard run to pay dirt.

Jones dominance at the climax of the year comes at a time when the Dallas faithful question whether their team can finally make some noise in the playoffs. This kind of performance by Jones towards the peak of the season, and especially in the playoffs has many in Dallas questioning if Jones should indeed take the reigns of the tailback position over from Barber. A report from www.DallasNews.com confirms the sentiment that many in Dallas have grown to realize, that it is time to make a switch.

The emergence of Felix Jones, and the Cowboys ending their 13 year playoff drought are of little coincidence. Jones was the most consistent player on the field at the end of the year, and may be the most pivotal star the Cowboys have seen in a long time. Jones is due to take on a greater role, and in doing so, the Felix Jones Rookie Card will take on even greater value.

But the story of Ray Rice isn’t going to be the tragedies in his life, but how he has overcome those tragedies and turned his life into a triumph.

Ray Rice and Rutgers will forever by synonymous even though Rice only spent 3 seasons sporting on the scarlet red uniform. He was able to score 35 career rushing touchdowns in college, and after his junior season was in the discussion for the Heisman Award as the best player in the country.

A lot to expect for a 5’8 running back who is featured for a Rutgers team that was scarcely heard of before the arrival of Rice in 2005. But this particular Scarlet Knight isn’t one to focus on the negatives, but to keep chopping wood all the way to victory.

That sort of perseverance is paying off.

Rice wasted no time on making his mark in the NFL postseason, when on the first play of scrimmage in the Ravens Wild-Card game against the New England Patriots, he scampered to the end-zone for an 83 yard touchdown run. With many experts viewing Rice as the central catalyst of the Ravens offense, Baltimore was able to annihilate the Patriots by a score of 33-14 in Gillette Stadium.

It was a victory that established Rice as one of the best running-backs in the NFL, finishing with 159 yards and 2 touchdowns, leaving the Patriots dynasty helpless the entire game. Hall of Fame shoe-ins Tom Brady and Bill Bellichek replied to the media the old “give them a lot of credit” line, as they were left to ponder exactly how they were so thoroughly dominated.

Well, Ray Rice might have some idea.

In 2009 he was accumulated over 2000 total yards, which helped Rice become featured in his the 2010 Pro-Bowl as the AFC’s 3rd rusher. Personal statistics aside, Rice has been known to take time out of his busy NFL schedule to visit his mothers pre-school where she helps mentally and physically challenged kids. Rice has been trained to stick to a strict schedule since college and get plenty of sleep to let his body recover.

It’s a good thing too. Ray Rice’s body will need to rest in the off-season before he will look to build on an already impressive season where he led his team to a playoff win, and an NFL Pro-Bowl appearance. The Ray Rice Rookie Card is a card of one of the good guys, as well as an awfully good NFL running back.

Desean Jackson is in an elite category. How many 2nd year players can be said to be the cornerstone of their respective franchise. Over the past couple seasons, that is exactly what Jackson has become, and another reason why the Desean Jackson Rookie Card is one you would have to be insane to pass up.

Desean Jackson made as instant of an impact as a rookie could possibly have in 2008, tallying over 200 all purpose yards, an NFL rookie record for a wide-receiver. While gaining over 100 yards receiving in his opening start, he also had an instant impact as a return man.

This kind of versatility has given Jackson the opportunity to succeed as the Eagles top receiver and top return man.

In 2009 it was his intention to do just that.

Desean Jackson was one of the best in his position of punt returning, averaging over 15 yards per return. In addition to that, he was the Eagles primary weapon on offense. Of all of NFL receivers with at least 50 catches in the 2009 season, Jackson was easily the best big play target, averaging 18.6 yards per reception.

Jackson has shown an amazing propensity to take a small receiver screen into an enormous gain, and his speed is one of the main reasons. NFL receiving great Jerry Rice called Jackson “the fastest receiver I have ever seen,” and many of the Philadelphia Eagles opponents will admit the same.

Desean Jackson is excited about the strides he has already made, as well as what the future holds for him. Because of his rookie contract, he is making only 385,000 dollars a year, despite being the cornerstone of the Philadelphia Eagles franchise. He has made it no secret that he would like a new contract, but it doesn’t look likely until he finishes his current one.

Nevertheless, Jackson is scheduled for an enormous pay raise once his current contract is completed. His quickness, toughness, and mind for the game made him a nightmare for every opposing defense, and if his productivity continues it is no question he will be receiving a huge pay day in the not so distant future.

He was awarded for his 2009 efforts with a trip to the Pro-Bowl where he did not disappoint. Jackson ended the night with 6 catches for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns, flexing a little muscle in his case to seek a pay raise.

As Desean Jacksons value has sky-rocketed in the past 2 years, so has the value of the Desean Jackson Rookie Card. Jackson figures to be worth a lot of money in free agency one day. That is, unless Philadelphia awards him with a hefty contract extension before he ever gets to that point.

When a prodigy comes out of college that has all of the physical tools of the greatest NFL running backs, it is easy to dissect his running style and make comparisons. For Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, he just might be the running back that sets the standard for all future running backs to be measured.

The former Oklahoma Sooner entered the NFL in 2007 with unlimited expectations. The only question surrounding Peterson was how his body would hold up after suffering from injury problems in college.

So far, so good.

Peterson’s rookie season showed him wasting no time, as he dominated opponents on his way to 1341 rushing yards and winning the NFL’s Rookie of the Year Award. Amazingly enough, he cruised to over 1300 yards while still missing time due to an injury suffered in the Vikings shut out loss to the Green Bay Packers.

His decorated rookie seasons included him breaking the NFL record for most rushing yards in a single game, as he racked up 296 yards on 20 carries against the San Diego Chargers. This performance led many to believe they were viewing greatness, and the comparisons started to flood in. The punishing and powerful style of running by Earl Campbell, the elusive and low running style of Barry Sanders, the speed of Eric Dickerson.

The scary thing? All of these components combined into one player.

Adrian Peterson followed that rookie season by gaining 1,760 yards in his sophomore campaign. Forget the sophomore slump, Peterson became the focal point of the Vikings offense as he led his team into the playoffs.

In 2009, the Vikings offense had somewhat of a makeover as Brett Favre took over the reigns at quarterback, shifting much of the attention to the Vikings passing game. As a result, Peterson flourished in the category that matters the most, touchdowns. Peterson led the NFL in 2009 with 18 touchdowns in spite of his total carries being reduced significantly, 49 less than the 2008 season.

But his touchdown total shows just how balanced, and versatile of a player Peterson has become. Adrian Petersons Rookie Card is sure to grow in value as Peterson continues to mature. In the 2010 NFC Championship game, Peterson scored 3 touchdowns, but also managed to lose 2 fumbles. He will continue to grow, but already having the title of “rookie of the year” makes this card even stronger.

The East Carolina product had one of the greatest seasons from a running back in recent memory, cutting through defenses like a hot knife through butter. This Titan became the single most important component to his team while accumulating 2006 total rushing yards, becoming only the sixth player in NFL history to break the 2000 yard barrier in a single season.

Johnson became the first NFL player to break the 2000 yard mark since Jamal Lewis ran for 2066 yards back in 2003. But apart from the total number, what was astonishing is the way that Johnson was able to achieve his success. He didn’t merely limp over the 2000 yard mark, but he displayed an unbelievable knack for consistency and strength as the year progressed and teams continued to key on him as the player to shut down.

Despite being the central player that every Titans opponent has on their scouting report, Johnson’s freakish speed and breakaway ability continued to allow him to rack up numbers as the year went on. Johnson finished the season with a ridiculous streak of 11 games in a row of gaining over 100 rushing yards. His ability to do damage on the ground as the key to his 2009 success.

But Chris Johnson is much more than a one-dimensional running back who is limited to breaking through defenses on the ground. Johnson has the kind of physical tools that can be utilized out of the backfield, or making receptions that can be blown wide open into enormous gains. Aside from his 14 rushing touchdowns, Johnson had 2 receiving touchdowns while averaging over 10 yards a catch and gaining over 500 yards in the air. He became the first NFL player to rush for over 2000 yards and catch for 500 yards, and in doing so broke Marshall Faulk’s single season record for total yards with 2,509 in 2009.

In fantasy football terms, Johnson is averaging a touchdown every week, and over 125 yards rushing. These are astronomical numbers for anyone’s featured running back, but all the more impressive considering he has only completed his 2nd NFL season in 2009.

Upon his 2000 yard season, Johnson is affectionately referred to as “CJ2K” by the Tennessee faithful. His respect goes beyond his fans and opponents, but was named the 2009 AP Offensive Player of the Year.

If you have the Chris Johnson Rookie Card, you should feel very fortunate. He has made a case for the best 2 seasons to begin a career for any NFL player in league history, and has his sights set on achieving even greater things. With his reputation as the fastest man in the NFL, watching CJ2K will be a lot of fun in the years to come.

Today is the biggest game in Vikings franchise history since 41-0 beating the Giants handed us in division game a few years ago. When you take a step back and look at the season Percy Harvin stands out as the difference maker on offense that really makes this team click. Prior to working Harvin into the slot position the Vikings really used Harvin in a variety of different ways. As they became more comfortable with what Harvin could do he became an explosive game breaker type of player. In the middle of the season the Vikings used Harvin in a slot receiver and kickoff specialist the Vikings put up some huge numbers on offense.

Percy Harvin has some very unique abilities that seperate him from the rest of this years rookie class. At the University of Florida, Harvin had more yards rushing than he did receiving. He now brings this mentality to the WR position for the Vikings. He runs routes that are ordinarily run by position slot receivers and TEs, but when he catches it if the defender makes a mistake he can house it on you. This opens the field for Sydney Rice, Shancoe, and Berrian.

Now lets look at when the Vikings had a couple of bad games starting with Arizona. This is when Harvin had the problem with the migrane headaches. For the next 3 weeks he was not available. Not a coincidence that the Vikings lost 2-3. His ability to get return yards and thus better field position, stretch the field and open the lanes for everyone else is highly overlooked. As he got his legs under him in the Chicago game the Viking offense became high flying once again.

I do not know if the Vikings will beat Dallas today, but I think it is alot closer than what people are saying. This is not a Dallas blowout because Harvin will likely have a huge impact on the game. Expect great things from this guy in the future. He truely is a game breaker type of player and will be seen in the playoffs for many years to come.
