Jerry Rice Rookie Football Card
Sometimes we forget how true greatness is supposed to act. Now as Terrell Owens gets released from yet another team, it provides us a great opportunity to look at the best that ever played the position: Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice holds virtually every single record a wide receiver can hold and has many NFL benchmarks that may never be broken as well. In 1988, when Jerry Rice broke into this league from Jackson State University he was seen as one of the best prospects that ever broke into the league from the wide receiver position. In his first year he struggled, but after that time he became a legend at the wide receiver position.
The Jerry Rice rookie football card from Topps is a fairly simple pose that has Jerry standing in his uniform without his helmet on. The border of the card is in green and red with white edges. This can be a difficult card to find in great condition because the manufacturing quality of the cards is not as good in the late 1980s as they are today. The good news is that there are many very highly graded cards of Jerry Rice so they can be purchased at a fail reasonable price. However, there are not as many perfect graded cards of Rice, so his card has gone up in value and will continue to do so. As long as his touchdown mark of 220 stands his card will hold value for a long time!
Twenty years have passed since this phenomenon entered the NFL. Without question he is the best wide receiver to play the game and one of the best ever to play the game.
