Brian Westbrook – From Rookie to NFL Great
Brian Westbrook's turn in the spotlight is right now. The versitile running back has a chance against a much improved Arizona Cardinals defense to change the course of the NFC championship game. Just ask the Minnesota Vikings how good this player is on the football field. The Vikings completely shut down Westbrook and in one play he removed any suspense from the game and Eagles moved on to the NFC Championship game. Against the Giants (a great running defense), Westbrook again contributed in a meaningful way. Now against the Cardinals, Westbrook has a chance to put a stamp on his claim to being the most versitile running back in the NFL. Look for Westbrook to have a playoff breakout game and the Eagles will advance to another superbowl.
Since entering the league as a rookie in 2002, Brian Westbrook has dominated the yards from scrimage statistic in the NFL. Twice he has led the league in yards from scrimage. In seven full seasons Westbrook has 36 touchdowns running and 28 receiving. If it were not for the injuries, Westbrook would be a sure fire Hall of Famer. His injuries have held him back in his seven seasons, despite this he has complied an amazing 64 tds in seven years - almost 10 per year. Most running backs are not able to put up these numbers even when healthy. Westbrook can now move to the next level in the NFC Championship game and become one of the 2-3 best backs in the league.
