In an era where the modern day running back is a combination of both speed and power, all too often we forget some of the past greats that set the stage for todays current running backs. Earl Campbell was an amazing running back in his short time in the professional ranks. Very few running backs had Campbell's combination of speed and power. Known for his bruising style Earl Campbell would run over would be defenders and plow his way toward the goaling. Bum Phillips and the Houston Oilers single handedly owe thier trip to the playoffs for many years due to the legs of Earl Campbell.
