Rookie cards have always been the most sought after trading cards on the market. If the player has a tremendous career; the rookie card becomes the most valuable card of the players illustrious carrer. The difficulty with trading cards has always been judging the quality of card.
For the last couple of decades several companies have created grading services that help to ensure the overall quality of the trading cards meets a universal standard. The three big grading card services the grade rookie football cards are Professional Sports Authority (PSA) and Becketts (BGS and BCCG) and Sports Card Guaranty(SGC)
Buying any trading card online can always be a scary adventure. You never quite know if the card looks exactly like the scanned picture until you open the card from the envelope. Buying professionally graded cards ensures that the card itself has met some standard.
The process of gradind a sports is fairly straight forward. Once the card is submitted for evaluation, the grading company examines the the card a gives a combined score. Both PSA and Becketts give a score on a 1 - 10 scale and SGC gives a score on a 1-100 scale. They examine several characteristics of the card including edges, color, centering of the card, surface quality and sharpness of the corners. Receiving a perfect score is validation that the card you have bought is perfect.
