Matt Forte – A Big Part of the Chicago Bears Success

Matt Forte has been a huge part of the Chicago Bears success this season. While not receiving all the hype of some of the other rookies like Darrin McFadden, Felix Jones, Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, Forte has been as important to his team as all of the other rookies.

The Chicago Bears are a defensive oriented team that attacks offensively on the ground. A strong running game is key to the Bears winning games in the long run. While the Chicago Bears did pass more than ever this year the ground game is still critical to their team's success. Forte was the ground game this year for the Chicago Bears. In his first 15 games as a rookie, Matt Forte has rushed for over 300 carries this season. Only 4 other players have carried the ball that much this season. This is a tall order for a rookie that comes from a relatively small college program. Only Chris Johnson from ECU compares favorably with what Forte has done this season. Johnson has Lendale White to spell him in Tennesse, but Forte is the man in Chicago.

Time will tell whether or not he lives up to Chicago standards for running backs. However, he has carried the ball more times than any other Chicago Bear rookie including Wlater Payton, Neal Anderson and Kansas City Comet, Gale Sayers. Looks to me that he is off to a great start to a great career.
