Bucs Retire Alstott’s Number 40
Mike Alstott , a player that redefined the way the fullback position was played in the NFL will has his number retired by the Tampa Bay Bucs. Mike Alstott was a bruising fullback that carried the ball like a tail back. He combined strenght, speed, power and most of all a winning attitude. Over the course of 11 seasons, Alstott compiled over 5500 rushing yards and 58 touchdowns and owns 1 superbowl ring. In his playing days Mike will probably be best remembered for straight forward approach to the game and the passion he displayed for winning.
As great a player as Mike Alstott was in the field, he has been an even greater as a member of society. The Mike Alstott Family Foundation created in 2007 was designed to help families through times of crisis.
All of this from a fullback that played for the Purdue Boilermakers. Mike Alstott was a great football player and a class act.
